7 days, six weeks

April 8, 2008

Suksubai! Ahkuhn for visiting this place….i leave for Phnom Pehn in one week, returning 6 weeks later.  It will be the beginning of the rainy season & much hotter than i am used to, but all that wonderful humidity will be great for my skin!   The photo @ the top is from a village on the Mekong River 10 or 20 kms from the Lao border.  It was my last day on the Mekong after kayaking portions of the river in Laos last November.  I was ready to set up camp for the night (camp being my tiny inflatable kayak for a bed & my $2.00 rain poncho for a roof) when a Khmer family floated by & then invited me to their village (upriver-ahh! My Western need for constant, efficient forward motion screaming  inside me “NO!!!”)
